thank you letter email

Whether or not you believe you had a great interview, a standard interview or even if you feel that it went poorly, you should always send a thank you letter.  A thank you letter shows that you are grateful for the time the interviewer gave you and that you look forward to working with the company.  This is something that you should do if you are applying to work at McDonald’s or if you are applying for a high-level executive position, the sentiment is the same.  You can customize your letter if that makes you comfortable, but if that is not your strong suit, you can use one of the sample emails we have given you below.  Even with an arranged format you should still personalize the email.  It is important that you reference specific parts of the interview you felt went particularly well as that is what you want the interviewer to focus on.

Employers always appreciate when a potential employee reaches out to follow up on the job interview.  A “thank you for the interview” email will never be frowned upon, it will always be a sign that you are serious about filling the open position.  There are 3 examples below of emails that you can use to thank your potential employer.  Of course, customizing the one that you choose is key.

This first thank you email is simple and straightforward.  You can expand on this by bringing in some specifics.

No matter what format you use or how specific you choose to be, sending a thank you email is a huge part of any interview.  Your job during the interview is to make a good impression, the thank you reminds them of that.  If it close between you and another person a thank you note may be just what you need to tip the scale in your favor.  The employer knowing how serious you are about the job can do nothing but help you.
